Fresh Ce-promoted sample showed better conversion up 450 than unpromoted catalyst. An activity loss was observed aged catalysts, but remaining less pronounced catalyst containing Ce. The did not occur during aging, while probable migration metal active species change their coordination has occurred.

Low-temperature SCR of NO with NH3 over noble metal promoted Fe-ZSM-5 catalysts

We have reported previously the excellent performance of Fe-exchanged ZSM-5 for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with ammonia at high temperatures (300–400 C). In this work, we found that the reaction temperature could be decreased to 200– 300 C when a small amount of noble metal (Pt, Rh, or Pd) was added to the Fe-ZSM-5. The SCR activity follows the order Pt/FeZSM-5 > Rh/Fe-ZSM-5 > Pd...

Bactericidal activity of a Ce-promoted Ag/AlPO4 catalyst using molecular oxygen in water.

The catalytic inactivation of Escherichia coli in water by a cerium (Ce)-promoted silver-loaded aluminum phosphate (Ag/ AlPO4) catalyst using molecular oxygen was investigated. With optimum Ce content, the Ag(Ce)/AlPO4 catalyst exhibited strong bactericidal activity. The process of decomposition of the cell wall and cell membrane was directly observed by TEM. The different morphological changes...

Preparation methods and thermal stability of Ba-Mn-Ce oxide catalyst for NO(x)-assisted soot oxidation.

Manganese oxide-loaded and -doped ceria as well as the corresponding barium-modified oxide catalysts were prepared for soot oxidation in the presence of NO(x), and were characterized by using X-ray diffraction, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller and NO temperature-programmed oxidation measurements. The activity of catalyst depended strongly on the NO2 production capacity, and the importance of surface nitr...

Significant Promotion Effect of Mo Additive on a Novel Ce-Zr Mixed Oxide Catalyst for the Selective Catalytic Reduction of NO(x) with NH3.

A novel Mo-promoted Ce-Zr mixed oxide catalyst prepared by a homogeneous precipitation method was used for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO(x) with NH3. The optimal catalyst showed high NH3-SCR activity, SO2/H2O durability, and thermal stability under test conditions. The addition of Mo inhibited growth of the CeO2 particle size, improved the redox ability, and increased the amount...

Catalyst Research Promises to Reduce Scr Costs

If adopted by EPA, proposed new regulations on stack emissions will force many utilities with coalfired boilers to reduce their NOx emissions to levels which are substantially lower then can be achieved with current low NOx burner technology. To meet these requirements, some utilities are anticipating the need to use selective catalytic reduction (SCR) for NOx control. New SCR catalysts under d...
